DFW Aero Mechanix Offers:

Annual Inspections:

The annual inspection is an obligation and an opportunity. Our technicians systematically follow the manufacturer's inspection regimen to be certain that all work is performed to the most exacting standards, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of your aircraft during the upcoming year. Annual inspection time also provides an opportunity to improve the aircraft--to install upgrades to avionics and to add other performance enhancing options--since the annual requires many areas to be opened up anyway to undergo thorough scrutiny. Import/Export Certificate of Airworthiness:

If you sell an aircraft to a purchaser from another country, or if you buy an aircraft from abroad, extra inspections are required. We can assist with the inspections and the paperwork. Don't let the complexities of an international transaction cause you to miss out on the perfect deal. (top)

Technical Surveys:

Acquiring an aircraft is a substantial financial commitment, but maintaining it thereafter should not present surprises. It is essential that the purchaser have a thorough knowledge of the condition of a target aircraft, and a detailed understanding of what will be required for the aircraft to perform as expected. A competent technical survey prior to purchase is much like an annual inspection--the technicians step systematically through all systems to evaluate each one and determine its condition, enabling the purchaser to pursue the acquisiton armed with all pertinent informaion. Pressurization Systems:

Large, complex aircraft incorporate several intricate systems, some of which can be problematic as they age. Pressurization systems force compressed air generated by the engines into the hull of the aircraft to maintain a comfortable cabin for the occupants. These complex systems include heat exchangers, valves, controllers, sensors, diaphragms, etc. As these components age they can lose their original effectiveness. Pressurization malfunctions are dangerous, and often very difficult to isolate. Our extensive collection of test equipment and many years of experience with these systems enable us to systematically compare each component to manufacturer's specifications to ascertain the source of the problem and effect appropriate corrective actions. Rigging:

Often neglected, proper rigging of your aircraft can have a significant impact on your satisfaction. Over the years flight controls are removed for painting or maintenance, cables stretch, pulleys and bellcranks wear, and connection points slip. For whatever reason, your plane may no longer fly as efficiently as it did when it was new from the factory. If your aircraft is out of rig you will use more fuel while not attaining the airspeeds you expect, based on the manufacturer's published data. You may find that the aircraft cruises wing-down, or cross-controlled. We can re-rig your aircraft so it performs with minimum drag, giving you better speeds on less fuel. (top)

Air Conditioning:

In Texas a properly functioning air conditioner is not an option. And in a pressurized (sealed) hull on a hot summer day, a malfunctioning air conditioning system can be worse than uncomfortable--it can be dangerous! Whether it's tracking down leaks in the system or servicing the freon or repairing a malfunctioning component, our technicians can keep your environmental systems in peak condition, whatever the season. We have specialized equipment for the job. If you want to upgrade or add air conditioning to your aircraft, we work with Keith Products, a world leader in aviation environmental systems, located right here on the field.(top)

Fuel Systems:

Given the intense heat generated by turbo-charged and turbine powered aircraft, combined with the volatility of aviation fuels in close proximity to those hot spots, it is absolutely essential that your aircraft's fuel system be maintained with the utmost care. And for your engine to perform according to specifications, it must get the fuel it is designed to use, in the proper mixture and pressure. The pumps, fuel lines, filters, diaphragms, servos, etc. must be monitored regularly to ensure reliable and safe operation. Our technicians can "set up" your aircraft, synchronizing engines for optimum performance. We stay abreast of the manufacturers' latest technical data, such as the Continental Service Information Directive 97-3 for fuel injection system setup and adjustment.(top)

Exhaust Systems:

Flying a large piston twin at night can be an enlightening experience. If you look closely at the louvers in the engine cowling you may see the glow of the turbo as it uses super-hot exhaust gases to spin the turbine wheel, compressing air to provide the engines the supply they need at altitude. If an exhaust component is compromised, there is a very real risk of an engine fire. It is absolutely essential that the exhaust system be inspected regularly, and that any anomalies be addressed with the utmost dispatch. We have extensive experience with AD 2000-01-16. The actions specified by this AD are intended to detect and correct cracks and corrosion in the exhaust systems of Cessna 300 and 400 series twins, which could result in exhaust system failure and a possible uncontrollable in-flight fire.(top)

Extensive Spares:

For a shop to meet your schedule it must have an ample supply of often-used replacement components: tires, brakes, batteries, starter/generators, alternators, small parts, etc. Our purchasing specialists are constantly watching for opportunities to acquire spare parts, rotables, equipment, etc. to avoid delays in delivering your aircraft in a timely manner. There is a huge inventory of aircraft parts and spares in the DFW area. We work with Aviall, RAPID, PartsBase, and ILS to source your parts at the best possible price.(top)

Aircraft Detailing:

It is a constant source of aggravation to aircraft owners when they entrust their beautiful aircraft to a shop for service, then get it back with smudges or debris on the interior, greasy handprints on cowling, etc. DFW Aero Mechanix has a fully equipped professional aircraft detailing service. Our technicians take pride in maintaining the cleanliness of their work areas, and we carefully clean each aircraft before returning it to its owner. And don't forget to bring it back for a wash and detail anytime it needs it. Don't wait for your next maintenance event!(top)
